Passion for the environment inspires 鈥榗ohesive, creative and commercial鈥 portfolio
A lifelong passion for plants and endangered species has inspired a talented textiles design student at the University of Central 成人视频 (UCLan) to win a prestigious enterprise award.
Jessica Kirkpatrick, 22, from Lytham St Annes, won the sought-after Creative 成人视频 Award for Enterprise at UCLan鈥檚 recent 2020 Degree Shows award ceremony which for the first time took place live online.聽
In her final collection, 鈥楲iving Specimen鈥, Jess combined her talent for drawing with experimental processes such as screen printing and mark making to create eye鈥揷atching prints. Jess, who has just graduated from the BA (Hons)Textiles Design programme, explained: 鈥淢y lifelong passion for the environment and the living world inspired me to create a body of work which focused on endangered species and the habitats in which they live.聽 I wanted to create designs that can educate people on species they may never have heard about before.
鈥淗opefully my work will capture people鈥檚 attention and help to start conversations, whether it鈥檚 asking about the unusual creature climbing through the branches or, how the print would look as a whole in their home.
鈥淚 try to capture flora and fauna as realistically as I can,鈥 Jess added. 鈥淚n fact, I鈥檝e been making my own scientific discoveries along the way.鈥
"We are delighted to recognise Jess this year. She has not only created a cohesive, creative and commercial portfolio of work but also made a powerful statement about environmental issues and endangered species."
